ABOUT THE BLOG

My name is Daniel Tedder. I'm a senior at Appstate and like a lot of people I find myself talking about loving the outdoors more than I spend time there. As a kid I was involved in scouts and would go camping 14 times a year. I had the opportunity to hike through the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico, paddle through massive glacial lakes in Canada and see a lot of things off the beaten path in my own backyard. Every time I have gone on a big trip I have come back a different and better person. While I had the opportunity to spend almost every other weekend in the back country learning how to handle myself when I was away from all the safeties on the world we live in, a lot of my friends did not. I'm writing this blog to help people like my friends who want to get "out there" but don't know where to start and might be a little intimidated. I've been backpacking and spending time in the back country for most of my life now. I've seen beautiful sights, had great times and made a lot of mistakes throughout that time. I hope that by sharing my experiences with others I can help and encourage them to take on some adventures on their own.
