Everything but Whitewater at the US National Whitewater Center
This past weekend I had the opportunity to go the the US National Whitewater Center with some of my fraternity brothers. Here at Appalachian I am the president of our Chapter of Epsilon Tau Pi, an honorary service fraternity for Eagle Scouts. As an organization we provide service to the community, help out local scouting organizations and try to foster brotherhood among our members. (If you know someone who is an Eagle Scout tell them to join this fall! Recruitment can be less than easy when you can only recruit from 2% of the schools male population) It's probably no surprise we also do a lot of stuff outside for fun.
About a dozen brothers from App, USC, Western, and ECU went and I think we all had a great time. Once we got there everyone scattered to try different activities. I opted to not go whitewater rafting (which felt odd considering the name of the place) instead opting to try an activity I had never done before, deep water solo climbing, or climbing over water. As someone who doesn't like heights I am constantly at odds with myself when I climb, so doing this was a good way for me to get over that a little more and get more "Out there".
