Social Media Strategy for Mountaintop Vistas
I'm super stoked to be getting started on the campaign for Nancy and Dale! In this post I'm going to go over the plan I have at the moment. I anticipate tweaking it moderately in between now and the launch. I'm going to continue working it and helping manage their social media presence after the class is over (I work for them) so even if I don't use all the ideas I mention here or ones recommended by people like you they may very well get used later once I can assess how much time and energy it will take to manage the platforms I have already chosen (I'm not getting paid to do the social media stuff, I just wanted to be able to do something else for Nancy and Dale to thank them for how nice they are to me) So let's get into it!
The Goal
The aim of this campaign is to get more people to book the hangar they have converted, whether that be for weddings, reunions or any sort of function. As I mentioned during my presentation in class, the house is rented about as often as people can rent it, so I don't think advertising for it specifically would be beneficial. By increasing traffic to the booking site, and therefore bookings, I hope to increase the amount of money Nancy and Dale can bring in.
How to do that
After doing my assessment of the current social media strategies being used I am met with good news and bad news, because there aren't really any. This is great because there is nothing there for my efforts to conflict with but no so great because I have to start from near scratch. There is a Facebook page (which now has 2 instead of 1 likes since my presentations so thanks if that was you) and supposedly a website that is not the airbnb page (I've yet to see it) Other than that it is a complete blank slate.
The platforms I plan to use are Facebook, Instagram and the website (be that the airbnb page or the other one).
For Facebook I will take over the existing page changing new things and implementing new policies:
- add new photos
- invite friends, family and guests to like
- update and provide information where absent
- create engaging and interesting posts
For Instagram I will create an account, and create material to be posted:
- Updates on projects
- Stories about the property, Nancy and Dale
- High quality photos of events held on property
- Positive reviews left by guest with their picture tagging and thanking them
For the website I will have to take a slightly different approach, as you cannot post things to it, it is a static informational page:
- update pictures, maybe changing occasionally or seasonally
- Encourage more guests to leave reviews, at the time of writing they have 121 reviews on the house, all of which are 5 stars. This definitely lends a lot of credibility and legitimacy. As of yet there are no reviews on the hangar page, which I think may be a glitch be regardless the cause that needs to be fixed
- update information and improve bio
Concluding
So that is my plan as is. Please leave some comments and advice if you are so inclined, Social Media is not my forte and I want to help out these wonderful people. Thanks for sticking through a longer than usual post!
